Expressions and hope for the Gulf

CGtC would like to dedicate this page to the communities that have been impacted by the recent oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico.

It is intended to provide a unique forum for those wishing to express themselves creatively. This may be through any form of creative process, be it visual art, songs, stories, video, dance, etc.

The objective is to cultivate creative group synergy amongst your communities, and a way of bringing creative minds together to explore the current situation and a way forward.

Please post your expressions here (below) if they are links or in text format. For those who have YouTube video, photographs, or other media that they would like embedded please email them with a brief description and I will add them to the site.

Sincerely,

Melanie Zurba – Director, Common Ground through Creativity

  1. The oil ‘spill’ volcano in the Gulf of Mexico really has me and caring people all over the planet concerned about its anticipated effects. In a way, it has spawned a planetary awareness (in those who didn’t have it already) and is bringing people together in opposition to unchecked Earth-wrecking corporate greed. THIS oil ‘spill’ obviously isn’t the first one. But what is different about the current ‘spill’ is that it is shaping up to be the worst, if not so already; of biblical proportion, as is prophesied in Revelation 8:8 & 9.

Musical Artists are also coming together and are using there God-given talents to highlight what is going on and the implications. Here’s a youtube playlist entitled GULF OIL SPILL SONGS I organized: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=025BA002A2716649

I am also in that playlist, number 10 to be exact. My song is called “GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL.” Here’s the direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17WLmFWYsyk and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktF6BQUIeuw

In this post, I have one more thing to share with you. To date, this story I read about two hours ago, is the most troubling and urgent:

‘Oil Volcano Pressure Too Strong For Containment’
    http://www.rense.com/general91/oilor.htm

    SUMMARY OF WHAT IS HAPPENING

The estimated super high pressure release of oil from under the earth’s crust is between 80,000 to 100,000 barrels per day.

The flow of oil and toxic gases is bringing up with it… rocks and sand which causes the flow to create a sandblasting effect on the remaining well head device currently somewhat restricting the flow, as well as the drilled hole itself.

As the well head becomes worn it enlarges the passageway allowing an ever-increasing flow. Even if some device could be placed onto the existing wellhead, it would not be able to shut off the flow, because what remains of the existing wellhead would not be able to contain the pressure.

The well head piping is originally about 2 inches thick. It is now likely to be less than 1 inch thick, and thinning by each passing moment. The oil has now reached the Gulf Stream and is entering the Oceanic current which is at least four times stronger than the current in the Gulf, which will carry it throughout the world within 18 months.

The oil along with the gasses, including benzene and many other toxins, is deleting the oxygen in the water. This is killing all life in the ocean. Along with the oil along the shores, there will be many dead fish, etc. that will have to be gathered and disposed of.

    SUMMARY OF EXPECTATIONS

At some point the drilled hole in the earth will enlarge itself beneath the wellhead to weaken the area the wellhead rests upon. The intense pressure will then push the wellhead off the hole allowing a direct unrestricted flow of oil, etc.

The hole will continue to increase in size allowing more and more oil to rise into the Gulf. After several billion barrels of oil have been released, the pressure within the massive cavity five miles beneath the ocean floor will begin to normalize.

This will allow the water, under the intense pressure at 1 mile deep, to be forced into the hole and the cavity where the oil was. The temperature at that depth is near 400 degrees, possibly more.

The water will be vaporized and turned into steam, creating an enormous amount of force, lifting the Gulf floor. It is difficult to know how much water will go down to the core and therefore, its not possible to fully calculate the rise of the floor.

The tsunami wave this will create will be anywhere from 20 to 80 feet high, possibly more. Then the floor will fall into the now vacant chamber. This is how nature will seal the hole.

Depending on the height of the tsunami, the ocean debris, oil, and existing structures that will be washed away on shore and inland, will leave the area from 50 to 200 miles inland devoid of life. Even if the debris is cleaned up, the contaminants that will be in the ground and water supply will prohibit re-population of these areas for an unknown number of years.

A song and video about the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico that will harm Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, (New Orleans) Texas, all the fine coastal towns of Mexico, Cuba, and further than we can imagine. This is a bad situation so we wrote this song about it, in Birmingham Alabama om May 02 2010; This song was written by Ron Campbell and myself (Greg Buchanan). Please Rate, Comment, and post to your fakebook or whatever it is you do.

    LYRICS:

    I cant believe
    The news one the radio
My god, what have they done.
    Mother Earth
Bleeds through a man made wound
When can the hands of man heal?

    A hundred years now
We been drillin for this stuff
You know theres a better way
    But the profits aint enough

With politicians making all the decisions
Where do they get their influence?
Over and over again, big money wins

    Troubled times
    Filled with peril
They fatten their wallets barrel by barrel
    Black gold, Texas Tea
Stains the sand beneath our feet
    Bon Secour to the Keys
    Brownsville Texas, New Orleans
Over and over again big money wins
Over and over and over again
    Big money always wins.

    I cant believe
    The news on the radio
My god what have they done
    I keep seeing this trend
    Over and over again
My God I hope Im not the only one

    A hundred years now
We been drillin for this stuff
You know theres gotta be a better way
But the profit just aint enough

    Politicians making all the decisions
Where do they get their influence?
Over and over again big money wins
Over and over again big money seems to always win
Over and over and over again.

  5. Wow! The Gulf oil spill is devastating and truly heartbreaking! We have to cont. to bring awareness about this issue and soooo many other travesties that are plaguing our earth. Stand up and “LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD”! I’m praying for the families that lost love ones in this tragedy, jobs, sea life, the environment and for change in the way we do things. Thanks to sites like this we can express, enlighten and come together in unity for a cause. Go to http://www.arresteddevelopmentmusic.com and check out our song “GREENER” which speaks to having a better environment to live in.

    Peace & Blessings,
    ESHE :-)

  6. Chris Barbour says:

I live on the Gulf Coast and have family and friends that rely on the gulf for their
livlihood and are affected by this tragedy. It is a shame to see so many people not
certain what the future holds concerning their jobs and the sealife that’s being destroyed and how much worse this could possibly get. I wrote this song in memory
of those that lost their lives on the oil rig and for those being affected. I would like you to take a look and comment. I pray that the oil will be stopped so the clean up can be completed. Chris

  7. Mermaid Tiamat says:

As I watched the devastation unfolding on live underwater cameras, I felt compelled to do something. Since I could not save the beautiful animals, I chose to sing them a lullaby, to tell them I knew what was going on, to run for their lives, and those that didn’t make it, that they are not forgotten. Animals teach us to listen to our heart sounds and react out of that loving vibration, not the meaningless ones we are taught on “tell-lies-vision”. I never saw a dolphin or a dog or an egret or a manatee watching tv. I urge everyone to really find out what is going on in the gulf. This is a horrendous event. Google is your friend. Find out what can be done!!! Bio-remediation, etc….. and urge others to stop celebrating meaningless holidays this summer. Ask lots of questions. Demand answers. Make the powers that be do something NOW.
