This initiative was started in Winter 2010 with the North End Women’s Healing Group. It is a project exploring the emotional health and community food security nexus in the North End of Winnipeg.
Our first focus group has produced a community co-authored policy paper for publication, which is currently under peer-review.
The figure below is from our article showing the importance of acknowledging the emotional aspects of food security and how this should in turn inform education, programming, and community development strategies.
We are working towards continuing this initiative through a collection of stories from the North End community about the emotional connections to peoples’ relationships with food. More information coming soon!
